No Resolutions, Just One Promise

For me, 2017 was a good year. I went to Cuba and was able to experience the amazing culture there, from walking the crumbling streets to salsa dancing in colonial mansions. I visited California for the first time and had a sweet little run-in with ASAP Rocky on my 33rd birthday. I took the most amazing ride in a self driving Telsa from LA to Palm Springs, California. The scenery alone was enough to pacify my spirit for years to come when I close my eyes and think about it. Or maybe waking up in Yucca Valley and watching the sunrise and birds chirping over the mountains was the most serene moment of 2017. I thought about quitting blogging and then I went hard as hell from May till now. Writing some of my best posts like; So You Wanna Move to New York City? and When Did We Become So Dependent? This year I did more collaborations with brands I love like: Shea Moisture, ASOS, HUE, The Salt Empire and Sole Society. I also managed to make the most money I’ve ever made in all 7 years of blogging this year.

I visited Morocco, which was on “My List” and had the most amazing and energy charged experiences at Scarabeo Camp in the desert. I finally had another event; Monroe Steele’s the Crown, a little mixer at the new Crown NYC Bar at 50 Bowery Hotel. And even though I said I’d never have another big event, I had it on my heart to put together a brunch for Unapologetically Dope Women during Fashion Week and #SteeleVain was born. It was such a wonderful time to bond with other creative women and celebrate each other. This year was the first time I did collaborative posts, the first with blogger and style authority Tiffany Battle of The Werk Place.
I have fully come into my own this year. I’m not following trends, I’m not trying to do what the next person is doing. I’m just doing me and it’s the most liberating feeling. There is peace in not putting too much value into what people think and that goes for social media as well. I want to thank you all for following me on this journey. And look out cause we snatching wigs and baby hairs in 2018. Fashion Steele NYC 2017 Review Magazine drops on January 1st and I can’t wait to open up the year with a bang. I don’t really do New Years Resolutions.

The only thing I promise to do next year, is to continue going hard and doing all the things I want to do.
