Mixing it Up

There are a few people I admire when it comes to fashion. There are a few people I try to sometimes emulate. One such person is designer Stella Jean. Ever since laying my eyes on her stellar Spring/Summer 2015 Collection in Milan, I have been a fan. I love her effortless style and how she mixing patterns and fabrics from both her Italian and Haitian heritage.

It takes serious effort to be able to pull off opposing fabrics and textures. I’ve tried my hand at it a few times, with my favorite being this pairing of a plaid top and floral skirt and this pairing of a plaid top and a wax print skirt. This is my attempt at pulling off a Stella Jean and I think I did a pretty fantastic job. I feel like strutting through Union Square Market with a bouquet of fresh flowers in one arm and a bottle of Merlot in the other. This skirt is a staple in my wardrobe from H&M that I picked up at the Jeff Koons x H&M flagship opening event. Hopefully one day, I will own a Stella Jean piece!
