Paris Fashion Week: Day 1 Style Diary

Paris Fashion Week kicked off yesterday for me with my first show being Peet Dullaert. I got off to a late start yesterday morning and the girls (Krystin and Trish) and I rushed to get ready this morning before heading to the subway. We ended up splitting up so that they could go check out the Louvre while I checked out the show. Of course when I got there and there was no line, i knew I was too late (precisely 28 minutes to be exact). I got there in time to be rushed backstage where I could watch the models enter and exit the runway. I never knew models were primped and prodded up until the very second they leave to enter the runway. It’s pretty intense back stage. But what I saw from the Peet Dullaert collection, I liked. Coming out of the show, I ran into my good friend french blogger Georgiana and we chatted and decided to get a coffee, while watching an impromptu large scale photo shoot for a magazine. We discussed her love for New York and my love for Paris…then we bitched about how expensive cappuccinos are in Paris.

Afterward I made my way to the Issey Miyake show, where I had backstage access. It was really quite cool to see the inter workings of a fashion show and what all goes into it, including the concepts for hair and makeup. It was really hot backstage and most of the models were surfing their phones and tablets or posing posing posing while photographers snapped their lives away. Backstage I ran into Carin of Paris in Four Months, a great fashion and Paris photography blog. She has done some amazing shooting for one of my favorite blogs Gary Pepper Girl and recently won an award for her amazing imagery.

The Issey Miyake S/S 2015 was everything! It had color and lux materials and cozy knits. I could see myself wearing everything. I also love that its always a great show and it’s an interactive show when it comes to music and prop choices.  Large white helium balloons actually made the music when moving up and down large strings. It’s was pretty awesome and definitely something I’d never seen before. After Issey Miyake I met the girls outside in the tuileries and we went to check out the Louvre before deciding we’d try and find the Dior showwhich was in the same vicinity. We ended up in the back of the venue just in time to see Anna Wintour walk up and through a private gate and into the lovely large white tent. When we finally made it to the front of the venue, we saw Dakota Fanning posing for what seemed like a million flashes of light.

After a quick brunch at this bagel place  (Ari’s bagels near Republique station is FANTASTIC) we headed to Montmartre and got our thrift on. All and all a perfect Parisian day.
