What to do on the Hottest Day Ever

IMG_1508

This has to be the hottest week in history. I am sitting here in my bedroom with the AC and a fan blowing because the rest of my non air-conditioned apartment is approximately 103 degrees. That is actually hot as hell. It’s so hot in fact that I canceled a rooftop date situation because…who can sit on a roof in this sweltering heat without dying. I also have one of those heat headaches from being out in the sun earlier today trying to shoot some looks. Key word: Trying.  It officially ended when my body was glistening with sweat. Trust me unless the photos are beach or swimsuit photos, no one is expecting a chest and upper lip glistening with whole droplets of sweat. And its nearly impossible to edit sweat glisten out. I still can’t believe that central air-conditioning is not a thing here in New York City. I can’t imagine how people can tolerate this. That’s definitely one thing I miss about living down south. It’s always cool, in your car, in your home, in the supermarket too. But I digress, here I am on the steps at The Met museum. So very Gossip Girl-ish. I used to love that show so much lol.

GET THE LOOK

Since its so very hot, and I will be spending the remaining day and night in bed, I’m going to list a few things you can do to beat the heat and pass the time in your hopefully air-conditioned space. Check out some awesome blogs and podcast: I am super smitten with Yaminah of Spicy Mayo who I met during the New York Coffee Talk event. She has such a bubbly and fun personality and I LOVE her blog, her fashions and her dope AF podcast Girl on The Glo.

You can also spend the day online shopping, or in my case putting a lot of things in your cart and never purchasing them. You can also just create favorites lists which is a favorite past time of my on The Real Real. Some off the beaten path shops that I peruse on a regular basis include: Loeil.com for amazing tops and accessories, StyleMafia for all of the latest trends, and Simmi.com for great boots especially those hot plexi ones and the knock off yeezys, cause who has a G for those?

I like to get my daily news from Refinery 29 including where I should get my nails done (which is currently Tenoverten) and where I absolutely, positively have to brunch in the city. I follow that up with up and coming sample sale listings that I may or may not attend and then swing by Mr. & Mrs. Smith to peruse vacay hotels in Tulum. I’m never not planning my next vacation.

You can also read a book! Some of my favorites are Nefertiti (which I read once a year because its that good), The Book of Night Women (this book is just, wow, it will have you feeling every emotion), Weekends at Bellevue (CRAZY stories about working in the psych ward at Bellevue Hospital in NYC), The Martian (I read it in 2 days I was so into it). Also, get a kindle.

You can also just spend the day watching Hulu and Netflix or washing your hair speaking of hair washing check out Function of Beauty for personalized hair care.

Girl I am dyyyyying. I live in LA and there is a fire so it’s hot and smoky. I refuse to leave my home and I’m just trying to stay alive without blasting my AC for the sake of my electric bill.

That said, you look amazing in this outfit. Those shoes are perfect and the shirt and skirt combo is killin it.

Thanks so much Jenna, yes I have been watching the news. Its quite scary those brush fires. Stay safe and inside. I totally understand the electric bill. I’m not looking forward to mine at the end of summer.
