It’s a slightly nippy morning in late August and I can almost feel Fall swirling on top of the city ready to settle down. My favorite season, Summer, is quickly coming to an end and all I can see on the horizon is Fashion Week. Fashion Week, my favorite holiday, usually marks the end of Summer. But already I’m thirsting for outerwear, deep colors and luxe fabrics from velvet to heavy knits. I never really considered myself a Fall season person. I used to prefer wearing next to nothing in the hot June & July months. But I’ve noticed as I’ve gotten older it’s more about being less revealing and sensual, rather than putting it all on front street. I still love a good crop top though. I don’t think I’ll ever stop wearing them. I’ll be that fabulous 60 year old in a cashmere turtleneck crop top that shows just a sliver of my torso and high waisted wide legged wool pants walking down Broadway with a black ceramic cane. Yes, I’ve really thought this out! But to get back on topic, here’s a little preview of my Fall favorites and what you need in your wardrobe for Fall.

GET THE LOOK
Fall is all about pairing luxe fabrics with basics. It’s about deep burgundies and greens (I predict these will be 2017’s Fall “It” Colors). Even though silk is usually a Spring and Summer fabric, this Fall you’ll be able to rock your silk pieces right into Fall with a little layering. The silk dress trend hasn’t died and probably won’t for some time. It’s just to easy to look chic. Here are 5 Fall Favorites and Must-haves for the season. Some of which will be on sale soon (so get your coins ready for those Labor Day Sales).
FALL MUST HAVES
A Wrap Dress
Every woman should have a wrap dress. It’s easy, chic and the perfect thing to just throw on for Fall. This one is from Zara and they have a bunch of beautiful wrap dress options. Think, the iconic Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dresses (some of which are currently on SALE)! They are so hot right now they can barely stay on the shelves thanks to the new creative director Jonathan Saunders. ASOS has a huge and fashionable collection of wrap dresses as well.
Something Silk/Satin
I love the juxtaposition between silk/satin and a heavy knit. It’s the best possible combination and silk/satin are actually very good insulators so don’t worry about being cold. Whether it’s a silk slip dress overtop a chic turtleneck (& Other Stories has the coziest sweaters & turtlenecks) or a satin skirt layered with a heavy cable knit sweater and ankle boot, you can’t go wrong. It’s also a really sophisticated and put together look. Check out how I rocked my slip dresses!
The Kimono
If you haven’t noticed, Kimono’s are the newest fashion darling outerwear. I just coped this one from Anthropologie (who hands down has the best selection of Kimono’s) and can’t get enough of it. There will be no room for trench coats this Fall. Just different versions of Kimono’s in different fabrics. For Fall go for a heavier kimono fabric like Velvet….speaking of velvet…
Something Velvet
It doesn’t matter what it is! It can be velvet footwear, like these Marco De Vincenzo’s I’m rocking here or a velvet Kimono. Velvet adds texture and sophistication and just plain originality and fun to any outfit. Check out some of my velvet favorites.
A Dark Lip
Fall is the time to bust out your darkest, vampiest, color intense lipsticks. The contrast with the Fall colors of nature and the stark greyness of Winter really make those lips POP. A few of my favorites include:
Deep Purples: Nars Train Bleu and Mac Cyber
Blacks: Kat Von D Slayer (Matte) and ELF Black Out (Shiny)
Deep Reds: Mac Ruby Woo, Nars Cruella and Stila Fiery
