What to Do for Labor Day in NYC
Summer is dwindling and I’m none too happy about it, but at least some of my favorites like this silk cami can easily transition into Fall with great outerwear or even serve as a pop of color and texture underneath a sweater. I actually wore this outfit or something quite similar to the Beauty and the Brand Ursula Stephens event a few weeks ago. I hope you all caught it on my instastories. It was SO MUCH FUN. I mean Veuve Clicquot, a jamming DJ and a rooftop in Brooklyn with a bunch of stylish people. What a time to be alive. Anywho, Labor Day signifies the end of summer so you wanna make sure you go out in style, fun and fabulousness. Oh and how dope are my friends? My photographer & fellow blogger Rose started her own clothing line, Dadou Studios. She hand made this silk cami!
Location: Chinatown, NYC
So it’s almost Labor Day and here’s your chance to bust out your all white outfit since technically it’s a fashion faux pas to wear white after Labor Day. But I’m all about breaking rules and will wear white all through Fall! So there’s a ton going on in New York City during Labor Day weekend. There are parties, events and rooftops to take in the last days of Summer. Here are a few events to peruse so you can get your Labor Day Schedule in order to maximize all the fun.
If you’re in New York City undoubtedly you will end up at La Marina at some point during the 3 day weekend and for good reason. There seems to be a party every day. 1L2L (1 Life 2 Live Entertainment aka. Paul’s Party) is having a 6 year Anniversary Party on Sunday September 3rd. The crowd is usually grown and sophisticated. I had the time of my life at last years Anniversary Party. One of my favorites, Genius in HD is DJing too so be prepared to dance and sing your heart out when he plays all the jams! Everyday People (my favorite parties of 2017) will also be docking at La Marina on September 2nd. There will be a special performance by Justine Skye and another favorite DJ of mine Moma, will be tearing it up with all the afro-Caribbean chunes. Hell, I may just go to both parties and rest on Monday.
On a Roof
You should probably be on a rooftop at some point during the 3 day weekend, specially if you live in New York City. Top 3 off the dome: The William Vale, 1 Brooklyn Bridge Hotel and 50 Bowery Hotel. All 3 have spectacular views. The William Vale also has some bomb ribs and apple pie too with caramel dipping sauce (a weird menu but delicious nonetheless) and then the drinks at 50 Bowery Hotel bar, The Crown NYC will having you dancing on a table. They are that good and that strong and probably the best rooftop view in the city.
In a Pool
So in addition to having amazing rooftop views 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge also has a rooftop pool (that’s open to the public)! It’s only open Saturday and Sunday from 1pm-6pm to the public so make sure to call ahead to make a reservation to get your swim on. There’s also a spectacular pool at The William Vale, but it’ll cost ya. It’s more affordable if you’re going with a few friends but still totally worth the cool waters and the view.
Catch an Outdoor Rooftop Movie
It’s one of the coolest things you can do in the city and since outdoor movies are coming to a close soon you better do it now while you still can. Catch the movie Thirteen (2003) on a rooftop in Brooklyn on September 1st. It’s BYOB! Who wouldn’t wanna get drunk on a rooftop watching a bad movie with their woes? Refinery 29 is hosting so you know it’s gonna be a good time. If thats not your steez head over to Yotel rooftop for a screening of last years Ghostbusters on the same night! But the real treat is Monday September 4th’s screening of Pulp Fiction at Yotel. I’ve already coped my ticket.
