The Best Designer Dupes of 2020

I’ve never much been into dupes until this last year. When I can I like to support the original designer by buying directly from them instead of going the fast fashion route. But I haven’t always had the money to be able to invest in those designer items that I coveted. For a while, I got many of my designer items second hand from places like The Real Real, Vestiaire Collective, Tradesy and Poshmark. Hell, even now I turn to those websites for those coveted designer items that are long out of season but that I still very much want or I hit up the best designer sales! When I got more into YouTube last year, I got more conscious of my spending and that many people wanted the same look but aren’t able to afford the exact items. Thus, I starting finding similar items that were significantly less but gave you the same look for less for my viewers and posting that information in the description boxes of my YouTube Video hauls and styling videos. It really isn’t about the price of something that makes it look great but the quality and how it’s put together or styled. Some of the chicest looks I’ve seen have been head-to-toe Zara or H&M. Anywho, now it seems that I’m the guru of dupes! People send me links every day to dupes or inspired by designer items I’ve worn or have in my closet. I’ve also found a few great ones myself. So I decided to put them all here in one place.

There is a downside to shopping dupes and that’s mostly at the designers expense. When something is awesome chances are it’s gonna get knocked off pretty quickly for the masses by high street places like Zara. It does hurt the designer in the end which is why, when I can, I save or buy it second hand but I know we can’t all be so fortunate. But the real tea is…sometimes the dupe is better than the original! I KNOW…. and in those cases I say, just go with it. Also before investing hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars in a designer item, getting a dupe to test out if you really want it is a great way to test the theory before investing in a luxury item.

SANDALS, PUMPS + BOOTS

I love my Bottega Net Pumps and Quilted Mules but they do cost a pretty penny. Luckily, there are a few dupes out there that are more affordable so you can get the look for less. In addition to the Bottega’s, there’s ton of Old Celine Boots, Amina Muaddi Mules and Prada Combat Boots with affordable dupes as well.

BAGS

I love a good bag dupe but I’m definitely not with knock offs of any kind that have logos on them. LOL. It’s just a big No and the logo’s are never right. The Bottega Pouch bag is HUGE right now and it does come with a huge price tag. Luckily, I’ve found the Amazon inspired dupe is affordable, great quality and satisfies my love for the style of bag without breaking the bank. I’ve also found that Amazon has some great wooden Cult Gaia like bags as well. Shrimps is another brand with amazing pearl and beaded bags for a hefty price tag and tons of high street brands have come to the rescue to get the look for less. Jacquemus made us all fall head over heels in love with tiny bags and hella huge oversized vacation bags and luckily there are a few to scratch that itch that are affordable. Then there’s the Prada Nylon bag that every street style stars owns!

CLOTHING

When it comes to clothing and outerwear it’s a little harder to find good dupes. One of my favorite style sweaters is the Isabel Marant army-esque dramatic sleeve look. Luckily, there are tons of high street brands that have took on this look for less. It always looks hella expensive. Then there’s the hourglass Balenciaga coats. Lord they are stunning but that goodness for a good dupe because those price tags!!!!

ACCESSORIES

Let’s not forget about accessories which you can easily find high street dupes for that are affordable. A certain super thick Prada headband comes to mind as well as the huge oversized Jacquemus hats! Accessories are probably the easiest pieces to find dupes for if you know where to look!

The olive color just arrived today. In the words of Monroe, “so good”, the quality and the price, you just can’t beat. I’ve placed another order for the cream and brown.

Love all these dupes! It’s funny, but I saw a dupe for your Chanel shoes in this post on Shein. Seriously thinking about grabbing them!

I wouldn’t recommend shopping at Shein. I’ve heard the quality of their products are really bad and in the end not worth it even if they are super cheap. There are better sites with Chanel dupes.

IDK about the Chanel dupes but I’ve ordered from Shein all my Essence Festival outfits last year and I haven’t had any issues with any of the pieces.

Shein has stepped the game up. Omg. Everything has been amazing I ordered for over a year now. I just shot some Valentine looks. Love them all. Plus you don’t like. Easy free return.

Great post. I feel like you in that I try to support designers whenever possible, all about supporting creativity. My caution in buying dupes is usually quality. Also, be careful where you shop, thanks for including reputable companies in your post. Love what you do.

OMG!! You listed the Celine dup necklace. I’ve been searching for a dup, but never thought about Etsy. I’m going to purchase it ASAP. You should really do a dup segment once a month or every three months. My coins aren’t there yet for High End disigners and I’m cool with it. Right now, I’m thrifting a lot of my looks. I’ve also started stepping outside my comfort zone. Please keep the information coming!!

Hi Monroe love your vlogs, blogs and IGs. Always looking for a daily dose. I understand the importance of designers receiving credit for their hard work. Creating original stuff is hardwork. But being a OG, I tend to wonder who is actually creating and who has created a knockoff. The hourglass jacket you shared inspired me to look through my closet and put together a similar look. And wouldn’t you know it I had a black hourglass blazer i bought about 30 years ago. So was this updated version a knockoff of days gone by or a new design. I got so obsessed with the Lele Sadoughi earrings and the Obi belt you wore I went looking for my own manufacturers. Wouldn’t accept anything less than good leather and quality. And it has inspired me to start my own line. I guess I said all this to say yes I have bought dupes because I have a budget. And my coins are precious. Who knows todays dupes may some day be another designers new design dupe. Keep the content coming Monroe love what you’re doing. Waiting for NYFW post.

Love this! I just ordered a Bottega dupe from Amazon myself. It really looks like the real deal without investing in a $2k price tag I also love how you put this look together!

First of all Monroe, I’ve been watching your blogs for almost two months. I just want to commend you on your passion for fashion. Not only for fashion, but as a gentle and high spirited human being. Your interactions with your friends and others are genuine. In today’s world you rarely see that in a young woman. Keep wearing the shit, because girl your smart, cute and very creative. Can’t wait to see your new furniture in your apartment.

Today, 2/5/2020 I tried subscribing on your Vlog, for some reason GOOGLE isn’t excepting my email, however, I think I found another way to subscribe. Thank you for being you, keep strong Taurus the bull.
