Today was the first day of Spring. Which is ironic because there is still snow on the ground from the snow storm last Tuesday. Only now it’s hardened and turned to ice with trash and gunk and animal secretions covering it. (Why God doesn’t anyone in Harlem pick up their dog shit?) I’m utterly sick and tired of winter but it’s holding on for dear life, like it always does here in New York City. The mere sight of it compelled me to book a flight to California. YAS! I’m leaving in exactly 2 months for bright & sunny Los Angeles and then a quick stent in Joshua Tree. I’m already craving the heat from the sun on my skin while I walk down Melrose drinking some very expensive pressed juice Californian’s seem to love. But this long winter did give me an excuse to rock this wool Ter Et Bantine Skirt that I picked up during my Staycation at The Smyth Hotel from Century 21. Century 21 was having their killer 90% off sale and I got this skirt for $79. It was originally $2610.00 (96% OFF FOLKS). Yes, this may be the best fashion STEELE I’ve ever encountered and I feel pretty damn good about it!
So like I said, this skirt was 96% off from Century 21. It’s so possible to buy designer for next to nothing if you know where to look. I’m actually writing up a great post that will go live later this week on how to do just that! Make sure you SUBSCRIBE so you don’t miss a post! Over the last few weeks I have been adding more merchandise to my Poshmark Closet and refining my wardrobe. It’s such a freeing feeling to curate my wardrobe and really just get rid of the unnecessary things. It’s really changed the way that I shop as well. I look for great statement pieces that are well made and will stand the test of time. Then I have my basics. The real magic starts to happen when you see exactly what you have and start to mix it all up.
I really love mixing. That is what this website is founded on. Fashion Steele NYC is a fashion and lifestyle blog where Luxury, Thrift & High Street meet. The point is to have fun with fashion and don’t be afraid to mix it all up, oh and never pay retail for luxury. It will always, always, always go on sale. Speaking of which Tibi is having a killer online sample sale and I want this dress to rock in the summer with a great ankle boot! I want these fur black mules too. This is the time to buy being that most winter inventory sales are in full swing.
I’m hoping that before I leave for California, my wardrobe with be totally revamped to basics and statements. I’m really looking forward to redefining my style. Spring cleaning really does work!
