Ladies and very dapper Gentleman (if you happen to follow this space), it is here! My favorite holiday of all time. New York Fashion Week! So I present you you a crazy fashion week outfit! Today I will be making my way to The Harlem Fashion Row Fashion Show so make sure to watch my snapchat: Monroesteele. Fashion week kicked off for me Tuesday with a trip to Six:02 to check out Rihanna’s latest FentyxPuma Collection. I hope you had a chance to check it out on my snapchat: Monroesteele or my Instastories. I was invited as a VIP guest so was able to check out the collection while sipping champagne and eating shrimp while listening to s ready play list of Champagne Papi himself and Rihanna. Make no mistake, they are indeed an item. Like seriously no other music was played the whole hour I was at this event but Drake and Rihanna. How cute. I ended up buying a very overpriced but very well made long sleeve crop top that will take me straight through Fall and Winter.
Top: Zara (worn backward and tied) | Skirt: Tamara Mellon via Shopbop | Shoes: Brian Atwood | Earrings: Clare V
The official kick of to NYFW was Kanye’s Yeezy Season 4 Fashion Show yesterday on Roosevelt Island. There was a lot of controversy on Twitter when his model casting call called for Multiracial Women only. There was a lot of backlash on what exactly that meant. But this interview with Vogue cleared that up, right along with the show itself. But the real fun must have taken place in line for the model casting in which 1200+ women showed up. I always love the muted and neutral color palettes Kanye loves but as far as his collection goes, I won’t own anything from Season 4 but lord knows I still want these boots from Season 2 even if they’ve been knocked off a million times for less than $100.
Fashion Week is so frantic. There are shows all over the place, events, lounges to drink in and goodie bags to procure. There is always inspiration to be found and I find that NYFW really ignites my passion for styling and writing. It’s a really creative time for me, overshadowed only by luxurious vacations. I’ve already decided on what I’m packing for Paris Fashion Week, but I’m almost sure that after NYFW most of that will change. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Tibi, Dion Lee, Derek Lam, Alexander Wang and Brother Vellies have is store this season. Check out Fashion Steele NYC 2015 Review Magazine for a blow by blow of last season, along with designers to watch and interviews from Bre Skullark of America’s Next Top Model.
I hope you’ll tune into this very fun time for me via snapchat: Monroesteele or Instastories.
