Swimwear, the new Athleisure

IMG_9399Athleisure is the trend of dressing down. Basically you wear workout clothes, as cloths, even when you’re not exactly going to or coming from working out. It’s been a rising trend over the last year and a half. I am none to thrilled about it. Yes, I will rock a Nike Sports Bra as a top but an entire athleisure outfit…no. I simply don’t have enough sneakers and I actually like wearing my Nike running pants, when I’m actually running. This is one trend I won’t be indulging in as I’m sure it will inevitably die out when people realize, its unoriginal and lazy. Lululemon yoga pants cost $100, do you KNOW what I can buy with $100? No thank you to athleisure, but it’s so damn hot, I have decided to start rocking swimwear as daywear. Yes, this is a Victoria’s Secret swimming top and the beauty of it is that I can sweat all damn day in it and then hand wash it and let it air dry. It sure as hell beats wearing actual clothing that will be sweat stained and destroyed after being in 98 degree weather for 4 minutes flat. Think of it as a very durable and weather resistant tube top or bralette if you will.

Speaking of athleisure, have you all been watching the Olympics? It has been so amazing watching over this past week. I am very interested in swimming and track and field. It’s so inspiring to watch these athletes compete and just crush it. I’ve never been so invested in swimming as I have been this past week. It’s also been very entertaining while this 3 day heat wave takes over New York City. I love summer, but my goodness. I’ve never wanted rain and breeze so badly as I have the last 3 days. However, this humidity has done nothing but work absolute magic on my hair!! The more humid, the bigger my hair gets and a girl loves her hair as BIG as humanly possible. Check me out on snapchat: Monroesteele to see what products I use on my hair. I’ve been very into nude and muted colors lately. I’m not sure whats gotten into me but it’s definitely working especially when it’s so hot out. Cooler, lighter colors don’t absorb as much heat it seems and keeps your cooler, so I may just be in neutrals all summer!

I have a black one-shoulder, one-piece bathing suit I bought at UO a few years ago that I’ve wanted to wear as a bodysuit for the longest. I even have the skirt picked out and everything. I need to stop being lazy. You can’t be the only one killin it in these streets in your bathing suit, Monroe. LOL.

YAS! Go for it! I think a one-piece is perfect for summer! Also an excuse not to wear underwear, which I don’t do when its over 80 degrees anyway. LOL.

Victoria’s Secret swimsuits are a staple in my collection, though I have the same style, my cup size is a bit of a hindrance when it comes to wearing it out on the city streets! I really love how you paired it with the white skirt!

You can always work it with a one-piece, its pretty much a body suit with built in undies lol. Thanks so much!
