Those shoes are amazing

I’ve been saving these Brian Atwood Pom Pom Genie Sandals, for the perfect moment. I’ve only worn them a handful of times since I made the trek to buy them at the 1 Day Brian Atwood Sample Sale this past Winter (on the coldest day of Winter at 8am sharp). It was worth it, because at about 75% off and never worn (They came brand spanking new in a Saks box) they are my best fashion STEELE to date! I knew I’d wear them during New York Fashion Week and today..(well actually yesterday), was the day! I’ve always wanted a utility style jumpsuit in an army green color ever since I saw Tracee Ellis Ross donning one (I think the exact one) on an episode of Black~ish. She has amazing style! Luckily during my hunt through summer sales, I came across this Isabel Marant Etoile dream on MatchesFashion.com. It was significantly discounted and exactly what I craved. I first learned of MatchesFashion.com when stalking my fashion hero Margaret Zhang during a previous fashion week. She was actually a guest buyer for them during New York Fashion Week a few seasons ago, so I thought it worthwhile to check them out. And boy, I’m glad I did.

Day 2 of New York Fashion Week, was a little more exciting for me. I began the day heading down to the Meatpacking/East Village with Jen to shoot for Aveda backstage for the Osklen Presentation. There’s just something about shooting backstage that’s a lot more appealing to me than shooting the actual show. There is so much that goes on behind the scenes and so many people that make just one look possible, from the designer, to the hair and makeup, to the models and dressers and directors and show coordinators. It’s one massive group effort. Back stage is always oppressively hot. The rooms are small and cramped and photographers crane around hair and makeup to get beauty shots. You’re stepping over wires, cables, boxes of things, shoes, models bags, hangers and clothing. It’s a giant mess, but somehow it all comes together and no one complains. Not about the heat, or the amount of people crammed into a very tiny space.

[aesop_content color=”#FFFFFF” background=”auto” width=”content” height=”300px” columns=”2″ position=”none” imgrepeat=”no-repeat” floaterposition=”none” floaterdirection=”none”]After getting some hair and makeup shots, and watching 2 run-throughs Jen and I made our way back up a few blocks to Meatpacking District where we proceeded to take over Washington Street and have an impromptu outfit photo shoot. I had been hearing a few “those shoes are awesome” comments before that moment but once Jen started shooting me, the people came. One after another every person who passed me on the street commented on my shoes. Old men, young women and tourists who could only in broken english tell me that “I’m a doll, a living doll” took notice. The glaze on the doughnut (thats my new catch phrase by the way), is that my fashion Godmother, Natalie Joos in the FLESH, stopped me on 9th Avenue and GUSHED over my shoes. Natalie Joos FOLKS. Needless to say that made my entire 2015. I’m now ready for 2016.

After our shoot, we had a delish brunch at Paradou and then decided to head over to the Chanel Boyfriend Watch Pop Up shop. It was one of the most fun and interactive Pop-Ups I’ve been to. It was super posh with white stark walls and jet black walk art celebrating the new timepieces. There were video’s projected onto the walls and built in TVs and monitors. There was an awesome photo booth and area where you could try on the watch. (I posted mine on twitter and now I’m convinced I need to buy it). There was also a little machine dispensing temporary Chanel tattoos and a vintage Coke Machine, which I loved! We topped the day off with a trip to Zara for some good old fashion retail therapy, followed by a 10 minute walk just to get the new flavors of doughnuts from Doughnut Plant on 23rd street.
