Chelsea Market

IMG_0759

There are a few places that I love around the New York City and the meatpacking district and Chelsea Market are amongst my favorites. Snuggled right next to the High Line and the cobble stone streets housing fashion’s biggest names is Chelsea Market. Chelsea Market has a rich history. When the railroads used to run on the now High Line right through Chelsea Market allowing for easy loading and unloading of food to NYC. In the 1890s-1950s this area was mostly butchers (hence the name Meatpacking District) and the baking factories of the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco). The building still has amazing charm with original stripped brick and woodwork inside. Chelsea Market is a dream for foodies with tons of delicious restaurants and also a great place to find unique local designer clothing and accessories. It’s also of note that a lot of designers hold their sample sales inside Chelsea Market as well.

It’s nice to get out and explore my beautiful New York City surroundings and to take in the history. The meatpacking district is a wonderful yet calm oasis of cobble stone streets, the High Line grass blowing above in the breeze and the bustling fashion stores. I love sitting out at a coffee shop and just taking it all in. The architecture is stunning as well. Speaking of architecture, the flounce on this skirt is what attracted me to it (and also the fact that it was on sale at Revolve Clothing for nearly nothing). Although I have a ton of black skirts such as this high slit pencil skirt and this unique fringe skirt and my new favorite Balenciaga skirt, I just had to have this one. I am now obsessed with very structured yet unique pieces.

The Australian fashion designers have a way with me and I’ve just invested in an Asilio Skirt with the most unique shape. I also am in love with the structured and beautiful Tibi Off The Shoulder Tunic, The Solace London Lotetta Top, and anything and everything by Cameo Collection and the aussie brand Talulah. BTW, how did I not know that the dollar is stronger than the aussie AUD? Even with $30 shipping its cheaper to ship from Australia than to buy the same brand item stateside. It doesn’t hurt to hit up the end of summer sales as well that have some amazing deals such as Revolve Clothing, ShopBop and NastyGal.

Can you all believe there is only 4 months left in the year?

xx
