Travel In Style with These Key Pieces

Hi, I’m Monroe “frequently found at 35,000 feet” Steele. I’ve been doing quite a bit of traveling whether that’s back and forth between Miami and New York City or over to California to work on my joint clothing line with Something By Sonjia. But over the years I’ve refined my travel looks so that I’m comfortable yet stylish, even at 35,000 ft. I usually wear some form of elevated loungewear when I’m traveling like this super soft and cozy set from Urban Outfitters. In this post I’ll outline my favorite cozy clothing pieces to travel in as well as stylish carry on bags, luggage, comfy shoes and everything else you need to travel effortlessly chic.

ELEVATED LOUNGEWEAR

I try and be as put together as possible when traveling but I always like to be comfortable. Planes are often cold and if I’m flying more than an hour, I hate the restrictiveness of jeans and the non-practicality of a bodysuit when you’re trying to pee in a tiny moving toilet. This two piece set from Urban Outfitters is perfect for travel. It’s not your basic sweat suit. I love the details at the hem of the pants and the top is a trendy shape. It’s comfy and warm but not too warm which is perfect for airport travel or even a long distance car or train ride. Urban Outfitters has a ton of super cute elevated loungewear that’s perfect for traveling.

Totes & Carry On Luggage

Most airlines allow one carry on luggage and one personal item like a purse or bag. I always take this opportunity to get super roomy and chic luggages from Calpak that can carry all of my bags, shoes and jewelry. I always keep my more valuable possessions on me at all times and never put those items in checked bags. A super large tote is great for extras too. The bigger the better because technically your personal item doesn’t have a size limit. This Saint Laurent Rive Gauche tote has been a lifesaver especially when my bags are overweight I can stuff a few things in this tote.

Comfortable Yet Chic Travel Shoes

I must admit sometimes I wear heels to the airport but only my most comfy heels will do like these Bottega Stretch Mules. I love these because they aren’t too high and have a rubber grip on the bottom so I’m not slipping and sliding all over the place. I like that I can easily pop them off and back on when going through airport security. If I’m not wearing a heel, I’m most definitely wearing some type of slide. I love the Gucci platform slides because they give you height but are super comfy. I also get a good amount of wear out of my Chanel dad sandals while traveling too. All of these shoes elevate the look of the loungewear while being practical.

EXTRA EXTRA

A few other things I always carry with me when traveling are a great pair of sunglasses especially for those early morning flights. I also carry chic hand sanitizer and lotion. For some reason being ashy goes hand and hand with plane travel. Before heading to the airport I also drench my face in my favorite serums like: Hyperclear Vitamin C Serum, Elemis Peptide Recovery Cream, or La Mer Treatment Lotion. When I arrive at my destination I want to look refreshed and lively. Of course I also pack a few masks..because…these are the times.
