DAY 3: Missing my shows and the most star studded and inclusive shows ever, CHROMAT

I missed my first few shows of the morning after deciding to listen to my body and sleep in. My feet are a throbbing mess. I also wanted to make sure I got the first #NYFW Vlog Day 1 + 2 up for you all. Thanks so much for all the love on the vlog! Buying my Vlog Camera was easily the best thing I did all month. So many people are wearing thee coolest coats and jackets to the shows. It’s all about COLOR!  All this fashion has spurred a small shopping desire. I quenched my thirst by buying these sandals. Don’t worry, I had a coupon that covered the whole purchase. I’m also strongly considering buying this Mara Hoffman dress too but I need it to go on sale just bit more.

The best part of the day was the Chromat Fashion Show. I love how inclusive Chromat is with their casting as well as all of their ads and social media. They should be the playbook by which other brands learn inclusivity. Ericka Hart (who I interviewed for Steele Magazine) walked the show and I screamed my head off as she strutted down the runway. Fellow blogger boo, @mamacaxx also walked the show with her gorgeous prosthetic leg and crutches. It was such an amazing show and everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE was there. I saw model and blackgirlmagic embodiment Ebonee Davis in the front row as well as Editor and Chief for Essence Magazine, Julee Wilson. I ran into blogger boo Kellie Brown who’s making a splash with her #fatatfashionweek movement as well as Nigel, editor and chief of Kolor Magazine. I finally saw my shero Tamu McPherson of All The Pretty Birds too. I’ve admired her for so long. She was one of the only black faces I would see when I first started doing fashion week and I’ve been watching her trajectory in the fashion industry ever since. Yall, she was one of the first people to buy the Digital Version of Steele Magazine! I swear when I saw her order come in tears came to my eyes. It feels good to be supported by someone I admire in the industry so much.

Oh and I made Fashion Bomb Daily! So exciting!

DAY 4: Easy breezy (actually hella breezy) in Derek Lam for the Son Jung Wan Show

Today was super cold, 27 degrees to be exact and the wind was brutal. Thank goodness my first show wasn’t until 1pm. I headed downtown to eat at The Butcher’s Daughter for the first time with Rose. It was delicious! I think I’m going to be craving their juices from now on. Here’s a tip: get the Huevos Locos and a Yellow Juice! So so goooooood! I wore a dress today that my good friends at Derek Lam loaned me for the day. It was perfect especially with all the wind. Rose and I quickly shot this look in Soho before I headed to Son Jung Wan. The show was amazing but standing in 20 degree weather for 20 minutes before the show was not. YIKES. Son Jung Wan is always a beautifully elegant show with lots of sparkle and embroidery. After the show I headed home and decided to relax for the rest of the evening. Day 5 is gonna be wild.

DAY 5: Brown Girl Brunch, Rocking my favorite fit and finally TIBI!!!

Today was such a fun day! For one I wore my favorite outfit so far of New York Fashion Week. It’s the little things right? I started the day with a brown girls brunch at Nomad Penthouse. It was perfect. I got to see some friends I haven’t seen in months or only ever on the gram in real life! Isn’t that the best? I barely had time to scarf down my chicken before I had to run to my first show of the day, Tibi. Well actually it was my second show, I missed my first but it was well worth it to get to spend time with some lovely ladies at the Galentine’s Day Brunch. Tibi was star studded as usual with all the usual suspects from Chriselle Lim to Lainy Hedaya and all my other favorite bloggers. Tibi was a great show and I’m gonna need all the snake print skirts (especially the one in yellow) ASAP. After the show I accompanied my good friend Nigel to Sies Marjan and after we made our way back to Harlem. I rested for a bit before heading back to Spring Studios for Ryan Roche. I’m a huge fan of Ryan Roche, they know how to do a good knit and make thee best hats! The show was elegant and beautiful and of course I want everything.  Twas a good day but best believe I have a massage scheduled for Friday when New York Fashion Week is over. LOL.
