6 Shopping Hacks to Make & Save Money While Shopping

I love shopping… especially for designer shoes. I rarely, if ever, buy anything full price. I’m not rich, I just know how to shop. Now that I’m a full-time blogger and working for myself, I’ve reeeaaally cut back on splurging and learned how to shop to get the most bang for my buck. I actually make money from shopping at places I would have shopped anyway (which is a plus). I made over $500 in the last 2 months just from buying everyday things I need on a regular basis and shopping wisely. Now that the holidays are here, it’s time to start shopping for those Holiday Gifts for your loved ones and for yourself. By following these tips and tricks you’ll not only get what you need, but get it with a discount and make money at the same damn time!

Websites & Apps to Help You Find Discounts & Make Money

[one_half padding=”0 15px 0 0″]Join Lyst – Lyst is a wonderful website especially for fashion lovers. It’s free to join too! You can basically create a list of everything on your wish list from a particular pair of Stuart Weitzman Boots to a luxury designer bag. The website keeps track of when the items on your list go on sale and sends you an email! You can also easily compare the same item at all the stores its available and which site has it for the best price. This site was a life saver when I caved an bought this Jacquemus dress (and got it for 80% Off!). Sign up for Ebates – Ebates is free and pretty incredible. I’ve made hundreds of dollars by downloading this app onto my computer. It works by giving you a percentage of money back when you shop at their partner stores and they have a ton.  For example, I wanted to buy a camera from Walmart (one of their partners). As soon as I go to Walmarts page, the Ebates popup comes up and asks me whether I’d like to receive 10% back on my purchase. I click activate and it activates that service. I buy my product and check out and I get 10% back on whatever I spent into my Ebates account. That money then gets deposited into my PayPal Account. I LOVE THIS APP. It also finds coupons for you and applies them automatically at check out! [/one_half] [one_half_last padding=”0 0 0 15px”]Use Your Affiliate Links — If you’re a blogger and use RewardStyle or Affiliate Links, shop your own links and get commissions from your purchases. Make sure to review your affiliate networks policies first but most don’t mind! You can earn anywhere from 5-20% back from your own purchases by using your own affiliate links. You can also make sure your friends and family buy things they need using your links. My family is so supportive that anytime they are looking to buy something online they ask me to send an affiliate link so that they can purchase through it and I can earn the commission. Download Dosh App for your Phone — Dosh App is like Ebates but for your phone. You get cash back by shopping at their partners like Forever 21 and Sephora. They have over 1000 stores and restaurants. You just link your card and anytime you spend money at any of those partners you get cash back! It’s that simple and the money adds up pretty quickly too. You can sign up for a direct deposit into your bank account or get Paypal deposits. You can make even more money by inviting your friends. You get $5 for every person you refer who signs up and links their card! Do me a favor and use this link to sign up and start saving![/one_half_last]

Bank Hacks — Most banks allow you to save as you buy. I bank with Wells Fargo and took advantage of the Way2Save feature. Anytime I purchase something using my card, $1 automatically goes into my Way2Save bank account from my checking account. This ends up being my rainy day fund. I also have $200 auto-debited from my Checking Account into my Way2Save Account twice a month. It’s the perfect rainy day or emergency fund separate from my savings account. Make sure to check out your bank and ask if they offer a similar service.

Coupon Codes — Don’t forget to do a quick google search for coupons codes. RetailMeNot.com is a great resource for finding up to date coupon codes. Another tip is to check out a brands Twitter or Instagram account to see if they’re running any promotions or to find a special coupon code. This simple act can yield 10-30% savings sometimes as well as free shipping! Sign up for those EMAIL DISCOUNTS! This one is HUGE! Just by signing up for a newsletter can get you up to a 20% off coupon code! Another tip is to shop on a websites app instead of in store or online. Many websites offer great discounts to download their free apps and make your purchases through them. Zara actually dropped their Black Friday Sale a whole our early on their app before their actual website. Some of my favorites like Shopbop offer up to 15% Off your first purchase when purchasing from the app!  Lots of clothes stores offer discounts for bringing in clothes or recycling your old product packaging. & Other Stories, which is currently my favorite place to shop, offers a 10% discount when you recycle old clothing and return empty product bottles. I actually got 10% off this skirt I’m wearing when I signed up for their newsletter. Yes, right there at the cash register and they honored it too.

P.S.

Sephora offers a free 30 minute pore clearing facial with any $75 purchase! Sure it’s not money but who doesn’t want a free facial!
