Red Leather Jacket

IMG_2304

Today it was cold. I live in Harlem, where the buildings are old and renovated. Where the heat automatically comes on in October and stays on until April. You can’t control the heat and boy does it get hot sometimes when it’s still 60 degrees outside. But today Beloveds, I am thankful for this little thing we call project heat, because it is cold. I find very little inspiration in Fall and Winter gear. If you’ve been following me long enough, you know I don’t fair well in the Winter. Although I have lived in New York for 10 years, I’m still not quite used to being cold, or mounds and mounds of snow, or wind so cold it freezes your nose hairs and eye lashes. The wind was howling briskly cold air today and I dreaded walking the 200 ft to the laundrymat this morning. I was planning on going for a run, but that was canceled when I realized how cold it was today. It’s currently 39 degrees and this little red leather jacket did nothing to protect my bones, but at least it looks good.

This Red Leather Jacket should fit in nicely into my wardrobe. I thought it’s best I own at least one red accessory. I don’t know what it is about the color red, but it just doesn’t do it for me but this darker red is perfect for Fall. I feel as though it could almost be a neutral. I have approximately 2 weeks to wear it though because Fall seems to only last about 2 weeks in New York City for some reason. Then means, inevitably that my blogging will start to slow down to a snails crawl in the upcoming months and then I will blossom like a flower in April. I really should invest in more Winter clothing but I always find that it’s just not worth trying to look cute when its 30 degrees outside. I will undoubtedly spend the Winter binge watching Neflix and Hulu shows. I have already binge watched The Queen and Black Mirror. Hopefully I will make my way to some place warm in February, preferably Mexico. It’s about that time for the holidays which means in the upcoming weeks I will drop a great gift guide (but this one Cool Unconventional Gifts for Him) is still pretty relevant as well as How to Shop The Holiday Sales so that you get the most bang for your buck. And if you’re in the market for a cool red leather jacket, this one from Dezzal clocks in at less that $80. Thank me later.

I hate winter dressing. It is absolutely impossible for me to feel and look cute under a down vest, hoodie, wool coat, hat and scarf. And there is nothing sexy about tube socks and ashy legs, lol. I’ve lived in NJ (the northeast in general) my entire 33 years and I have yet to get used to how bitter cold it gets here. I prefer my tropical prints, sandals and bare legs.

I was in Mexico in February this year and it was a welcome vacation for the winter cold. Even though I was in Mexico City and not a beach-side resort, it was in the mid-70s to low-80s and I loved it. Can’t wait to go back!
