While shooting around at The Little Farm House in Miami, we came across this black cat, lazily taking a nap on the porch of this cottage. I was still set on shooting on that porch and was extra careful not to disturb him. But he came right over and practically hopped in my lap which scared the living shit out of me, because I’m scared of cats but for some reason they’re always drawn to me. In high school my friend had gotten a kitten and I went over to visit her. I had just gotten a Happy Meal from McDonald’s and laid out my burger on my lap. The kitten was off some where being small and kitten like and doing things that kittens do. Then out of no where the kitten came running and jumped up trying to get the burger from my lap, but missed and caught my shins, with its sharp little claws. I jumped up and lost the burger and was left with bleeding legs. Ever since, I’ve been a little jumpy around kittens and cats. I mean their eyes glow in the dark and they supposedly steal babies breath. It also doesn’t help that I once watched a movie about an evil cat that made it’s owner kill himself (by accident of course).
There are two types of people in the world. Cat people and dog people.
I am a dog person.
In the series of photos shot at The Little Farm House in Miami, the theme was fringe, gingham and stripes. The Stella Jean and the Tibi mules in the previous editorial both have fringe and the top was gingham. I am a huge lover of the fringe trend and have gone ahead and adapted it as a basic in my wardrobe. Fringe has been trending for the past 3 years and I don’t think it’s going anywhere anytime soon. This Tamara Mellon fringe skirt was a sale buy from Shopbop and they are currently having an amazing sale with lots of Tamara Mellon fringe pieces that will be perfect for summer. This skirt is definitely one of my favorites and the cat liked it too. Although I think of myself as more of a dog person, I think if the right kitten came along, I’d give it a chance.
