Fall Trends: Dark Lips, High boots and Denim

There’s this thing in New York City where if you live in Harlem you often hate Brooklyn and vice versa. Mainly because its just so freaking hard to get there, especially on a weekend. It’s practically a long distance relationship if you’re dating someone from the either borough if you live in the other. I used to only make the trek to Brooklyn for those First Saturdays at the Brooklyn Museum, where I could take in all the Egyptian exhibits for free and mingle with the beautiful people. It was always hell getting back to Harlem. I also frequented Williamsburg regularly for the thrift stores (Stella Vintage) and flea markets. I’ve been spending a lot more time in Brooklyn and I can actually admit that it’s not so bad. It’s actually growing on me, and if I make a move in the near feature, this is where I’d like to be.

I love the peacefulness of Park Slope and the excitement of Dumbo and the coziness of Brooklyn Heights. It’s a whole other world here. I love walking down the quaint streets of houses and looking at all the creativity the home owners have put into making their abodes stand out. I realize that I want a slice of this. I’m sick of paying rent when rent is basically a mortgage. I want a fire place and exposed brick and outdoor space. I also want to be a stones throw away from major public transportation. So I decided to start saving. Then I perused The Real Real and that promptly went to hell and I bought some shoes I’ve been coveting. Why is it so hard to save! I’m well into adulthood and can save up for a pair of shoes, but a distant goal is so much harder.

Anywho, speaking of shoes, these boots were an impulse buy about a year ago from Zara. Zara really does come through for great Fall knitwear and footwear. I’ve been seeing this length and color boot everywhere. Camel is a neutral and goes with everything especially a deep colored lip, like this Nars Train Bleu Lip Pencil which is my staple for Fall and Winter. Some of my favorite dark lip colors include Nars Audatious Liv Lipstick (deep aubergine) and Black Up Lipstick in Satin Black. The cargo/utility look never seems to go out of style and since the weather has been pretty mild here in NYC this jacket has been the best for pulling together a casual look. A great neutral boot such as these camel colored ones are also a good look to get you through Fall and can be worn like so with a skirt of over your favorite pair of skinny jeans.

I’m going to spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing, binge watching bad TV and later making my famous lasagne (It’s perfect of the cool weather tonight).

xx
