Hotel la Semilla

Hotel la Semilla has been nothing short of amazing accommodations while we’ve been vacationing in Playa del Carmen over the last 4 days. The staff is kind and very knowledgeable about the area. I love that the hotel is so small. I’m pretty sure we met all 6 people who work there including the owner. If you happen to stay go with the Terrazza rooms, with a private terrace with either an outdoor shower or private soaking tub. I wanted to do a write up of just how divine this treasure is but it’s better to just show you. Imagine waking up to a light filled room with breezes from the ocean cascading through your windows and terrace sliding doors. You hear the exotic birds chirping merely each morning. To see a lovely sunrise, you can walk up the white washed stone stairs and out to the rooftop terrace where in the distance you can see the sun rise over the pristine waters while sitting in a hammock. The decor of Hotel la Semilla is natural with white walls, wooden beams and antique furnishings. The hotel blends seamlessly into its natural surroundings of trees and bush.

It smelled amazing and as someone who is pretty obsessed with smell, this place was heaven on earth. Having breakfast every morning in the garden with soft music playing was lovely as well. Each morning we’d choose a cool place to sit and fresh house juice (a blend of tropical fruits) would be served along with delicious and flavorful coffee and fresh croissants. Fresh cut fruits were served along with succulent honey to dip them in. I feel head over heels for the passionfruit jam. The granola and yogurt was the best I’d ever had in my life. Each day a new entree was served and it was always exciting to see and taste it! I spent quite a bit of time in the garden, on the roof top terrace,

on my own private terrace and in the other outdoor terrace with a lovely hammock for reading and napping. The entire time we were there we saw maybe two other couples once. It really feels like you have the entire hotel yourself which is great for late night star gazing and drinking red wine in the candle lit garden at night. The surroundings of the hotel are just perfect for a relaxing or a romantic getaway with a special someone. Being and living in New York, it can be hard to relax and focus on just you without distractions. I loved the fact that the hotel doesn’t have TV’s, but don’t worry the wifi is strong. You won’t be disappointed with Hotel la Semilla.

Playa del Carmen is chalk full of things to do, but if you’re a foodie like me, all you care to know about is the cuisine. The best authentic Mexican food was courtesy of El Fogon it’s a little off the beaten path but its definitely a quick and fun bike ride from the hotel area of Playa del Carmen. Piola is an Italian restaurant and it was directly across from our hotel. It has the most amazing pina coladas I’ve ever had (we went 3 times during our stay for the pina coladas alone). They have delicious brick oven hand made pizzas. But if you want the best Mexican food of your life, then El Fogon it is! I will never forget my time at Hotel la Semilla and we have plans to visit again in the future. For now we’d made our way to Cancun and are at the lovely all inclusive Moon Palace Resort. My good friend and line sister (AKA if you’re wondering) Amber is getting married here tomorrow. This place is amazing…and I can’t get over the fact that it’s the largest resort in Cancun. It is indeed huge with atleast 5 pools. I can’t wait till you get a look at this oasis, (in the meantime follow me on snapchat: monroesteele and check out more photos on my instagram).
