3 Tips for Vacationing Like an Influencer

I get a ton of emails and DMs asking me for recommendations for trips to New York and tips about all the places I’ve visited. If you’re visiting New York and need all the best restaurants, shopping, hotels and more check out the New York City tab in the Travel Category. I love traveling and usually plan my travel (or at least the places I want to visit) a year in advance. Next year I’m visiting: Paris, Milan, California and Morocco. Hopefully, I’ll be able to squeeze a few more places in too but those are solidly on the YES list for now. I’m The Planner when it comes to trips and group vacations. Mainly because I am so type A and I know what I want when it comes to a trip. Some trips are educational and full of activities while other trips are purely relaxation based. I have a certain aesthetic when it comes to where I stay as well. My friends love that I can plan everything and all they have to do it pay and show up. I’m also all about finding deals. I like inexpensive flights and accommodations that still have a killer aesthetic for amazing photos and memories. Honestly, its you’re going to travel, what’s the point of winging it. Make your memories and experience one that you want. It’s the holidays and people are visiting family and friends and jetting away for New Years too. So I thought this would be the perfect time to share my tips for traveling like an influencer.

TRY ON YOUR CLOTHES

Trust me your favorite influencer isn’t just throwing a bunch of stuff in a suitcase and winging it. I plan every outfit of my trip. I try everything on with all the accessories including shoes. Sometimes I even have a theme of color palette for my travels. This helps me to eliminate things I’d just throw in my suitcase and not even wear. It also helps me plan my days. I usually create a loose schedule of what I want to do and can plan my outfits for each activity. Trust me, it’s worth it to try on your looks even if it’s time consuming. You want great photos right? When you look good you feel good. Pack the things you love and take the time to sort those things out. Trust me, you don’t want to get to your destination and realize you don’t like anything you packed and none of it coordinates with the weather or what you have planned.

INSTAGRAM + PINTEREST ARE YOUR FRIEND

All of the answers are on Instagram or Pinterest. Search the geotag locations of where you want to visit. Peruse the photos and save your favorites: photo locations, outfit inspiration, restaurants and sights to see. You can create a whole folder on Instagram filled with inspiration and tips for your upcoming trip. This is a great way to find things to do too. Pinterest is amazing for travel guides. There is literally a guide for every place on earth. You can also find great outfit inspiration as well by searching the place you’re visiting. Check out the vibes and the ambience and have a plan to hit the ground running when you arrive at your final destination.

GET YOUR CONTENT FIRST + THEN HAVE FUN

If you want to make the most of your trip, actually make time to enjoy the trip. Don’t spend the whole trip looking for places to take photos. It will drain the life out of the trip especially if you’re going with a group. Decide ahead of time a few looks you definitely want to shoot and where and as soon as you get to your location, knock out the shoots in the first day or so. Then kick back and relax and have fun. Of course you can still take pictures throughout the trip but the things you really want will be done and out of the way and take the pressure off getting content everyday of your trip. Work first and then party. I find this works for Instastorying events and such too. Get all your stories first, save them to post later and then have fun.

PS. Sunglasses make any photo a little more cool. So definitely get yourself one really great pair that you can wear with anything.
