My New York City Favorites: Restaurants & Self Care Spots

I’ve been living in the city that never sleeps for the past 12 years and although my favorite places change all the time, I wanna share my favorites for now. I will probably update this post every few months as places open and inevitably as the best places close. It seems that every place has an expiration date, from my favorite nail spot to the best burger joint. The rent is too damn high and essentially most businesses have less than 5 years before they pick up or are forced to go elsewhere. New York City is a smorgasbord of amazing shopping, food and experiences. Make sure to bookmark this post for your next trip to the city and if you live here drop some of your city favorites below in the comments.

RESTAURANTS

I love food. I love ambience too and a lot of restaurants in New York City spend all their dough on the decor and the food is trash. I am a certified foodie. I go where the good food is and if the ambience is nice that’s cool too. You all probably notice I don’t take many food pictures and that’s because I’m too busy eating LOL.

Hotel Chantelle 92 Ludlow St — Skip the overhyped brunches and make a reservation for a quiet dinner. Their dinner menu is exquisite yall. Quite possibly the best food in the city. Start with the Moules-Fries or steamed mussels in white wine with shallots, garlic, parsley and crisp fries. Then get the mushroom and artichoke salad which is the best salad I’ve ever had in my life. Then finish the meal off with the skirt steak and funyun crusted onion rings. Yes YOU READ THAT CORRECTLY: FUNYONS. Yaaaaaallllll. So good.

Sweet Chick 178 Ludlow St — Sweet Chick in LES is one of my favorite restaurants. The service is simply amazing. Yes, it will take forever to get in but once you do you are treated like royalty. My favorite thing on the menu is their Shrimp & Grits. It’s hands down the best in the city. [/one_half_last]

RESTAURANTS CONT.

Ruby’s Cafe 219 Mulberry St  I was put onto this restaurant by an Aussie businessman. Ruby’s has the freshest and best comfort food. I love their Shrimp Pasta which is super creamy and perfectly seasoned with extra large shrimp and arugula. My favorite thing on the menu is their Crispy Rice with Chicken. Good Lawd. I never even knew about crispy rice until eating it here but now I have to have it every few weeks. Top it off with a delicious Watermelon & Mint Juice.

The Butcher Daughter 19 Kenmore St — Hands down the best healthy juices and smoothies in town. My favorite juice is their Yellow Juice made up of pineapple, jicama and lemon.[/one_half] [one_half_last padding=”0 0 0 15px”]

SELF CARE

With the stress of living in a metropolitan area where everyones on the go, self care is very important to my sanity as a human being and even more so as an entrepreneur. If you live in New York City it’s hard to leave the house without spending at least $20. So I make sure I get my self-care in at some of my favorite spots around the city.

Exhale Spa 150 Central Park South — Is my absolute favorite place to unwind and treat myself. I love their 60 minute lift facial. It’s completely relaxing and immediately gives my skin a glow that lasts for weeks.

Fishion Inc 83 Mott St. 2nd Floor — This is my new go-to for the best $35 45-minute deep tissue massage. I’d been having neck troubles for about 3 months and was advised by a friend to check this place out. I booked a 45 minute session with Peter and my goodness. It was the best massage of my life and my neck pain was gone. I now go once a month for maintenance. The life of a blogger involves a lot of looking down at phones and computers and my neck reverts after about a month or so.

Dyanna Spa and Waxing Center 42 E. 21st St — When it’s time to get bikini ready, I trust no one with my brazilian except Olga at Dyanna Spa. She is highly skilled. It’s painful but quick and concise. If fact I’m due for my first visit of the year.

Good day, Monroe. Today is a low key day, so I decided to catch up on your blogs. I just finished your What I spend in a week blog from 2018. Loved it! I came here for the $38 massage information, but received so much more. Again, loved it! Thanks for your professionalism and panache. Also, will I be able to order the print version of Steele magazine beyond May 6th?
