I am not yet a mother, of a human, however I do have 2 growing plant children, Cornelia and Amelia who are indeed flourishing under my green thumb. Hell, I pulled my back just last week trying to give Amelia a shower. Yes, I carried a nearly 50 pound plant into the shower and gave her and her soil a good soothing shower. LOL. She loved it. Anywho, my really good friend Sheena just had a baby and he might be the cutest baby in the entire world. I got to spend a whole day with him last week, and now my friends, I’m considering getting knocked up. We shall see how it goes. If it doesn’t happen before I’m 37 it won’t happen. Being a mother is hard work. Like literally for all the mothers of human children out there, I don’t know how y’all do it. Just watching my friend and her husband the first few months of their babies life, had me wondering how the hell my mom did this 3 times and was a single mother for a good while. Look, MOTHERS ARE ROCK STARS! Cause whew chile….the stress. Mother’s deserve all the gifts and not just for mother’s day but every day. So without further a do, here are some wonderful gift ideas for all the Mother’s in your life.
A Personal Card — I’m one of those people who keeps every greeting card I’ve ever been given. I have a whole box of cards I’ve received from people since I was old enough to keep them. I especially cherish all the cards I’ve collected over the years from my Grandmother who passed away a few years ago. I love re-reading them and getting to touch the words she’s written in them. My go-to for greeting cards is Papyrus. I love how luxe and personable they are and the huge variety to chose from. A card goes a long way, especially when something amazing is handwritten in them. The written word still hits the heart.
A Day to Do Whatever They Want — This is an amazing gift especially for a new mom. A few hours to themselves makes all the difference. I’d volunteer to watch their newborn while they go out, or even sit in another room and finally have time to read a newspaper, or take a bubble bath or get out and take a walk. Probably the best and most useful gift you can give a new mother is time to do whatever she has neglected doing for herself because she’s basically a food machine for her new baby. This gift works just as well for any Mother. A good spa day complete with facials, massages, manicures and pedicures is always lovely and thoughtful gift. If you’re looking for great restaurants or self care spots check out this blog post.
Self Care Items — Who doesn’t love a care package! I used to live for them when I was away at college. My parents would send me one every so often and it was amazing! For the Moms who don’t have time to spend at a spa and would rather enjoy the finer things in life from the comfort of their own home. Go for some waxing products from Flamingo, y’all they are truly amazing and super easy to use. Pixi Beauty has an astounding array of facial masks from the Glow Mud Mask to their T-Zone Peel Off Mask. Elemis also has the one of my favorite face mask of all time, the Peptide 4 Thousand Flower Mask. For some shower indulgence, Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Yogurt Body Scrub is invigorating yet relaxing. Harper + Ari Exfoliating Sugar Scrub is my all time favorite body exfoliant and leaves your skin silky smooth. The ultimate indulgent face serums, Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate and Elemis Peptide 4 Midnight Recovery Cream Oil are the perfect gifts. Elemis also has a ton of gift sets too. The Elemis Peptide 24/7 Collection is my favorite gift set.

Things + Subscriptions — Who doesn’t love a gift. One of my favorite items to gift, not only for Mother’s Day but for any special occasion is a A Nespresso machine. A coffee maker is literally the gift that keeps on giving. I also love giving the gift of scent. People are really particular about fragrances so I love gifting Giftcards to artisan perfumeries like Le Labo or Byredo. By the way the Bohemia Candle by Byredo is the best smelling candle of all time. I’m also a fan of gifting subscriptions some of which include: A New York Times Subscription, A Kinfolk or a Porter Magazine Subscription (especially if they love to read or are into fashion and travel), a subscription to Winc Wines (a monthly wine subscription box), a subscription to Cocotique (a beauty subscription box for when of color) or even a subscription to Blue Apron!
I was my mom’s first mother’s day gift, being born on May 15th. Yall, it’s Taurus Season. No that has nothing to do with this post but never forget. I will have nothing less than #nobehavior for the remainder of this wonderful season. LOL.
