The Only Reason I Tolerate Winter in NYC — New York Fashion Week

Hi there, Hello, my name is Monroe Steele and I hate Winter. I am not about that below 40 degree weather life. Currently it’s 31 degrees outside and I have tried with all my might not to leave my house for the last 4 days. The only thing that propelled me out was money (shooting some campaigns) and food (because a girls gotta eat). My first real New York Winter here it snowed about 3 feet of snow. I’d never seen that much snow in my life coming from Durham, North Carolina. I had not a winter coat or winter boot and my dad had to next day deliver me my very first NorthFace coat and a pair of Timberland Boots. LOL. I’ve lived in New York for going on 12 years and I’m still not used to the Winters. I don’t think I’ll ever be either. But the one thing that gets me through this cold long month of January is the thought of New York Fashion Week in February.

[one_half padding=”0 15px 0 0″]I’m actually really excited about Fashion Week next month mainly because it’s my first time being able to cover the entire week since I’ve been blogging! I’ve always had a full-time job and blogging was just my side hustle but now that it’s my main squeeze I am too amped to really experience all that New York Fashion Week has to offer. In case you’re interested the New York Fashion Week Schedule just went up and so many of my favorite brands and designers are showing. If you’ve been watching my Instastories you may have seen a few things I purchased from the Yoox and Net-a-Porter Sales to rock at New York Fashion Week. This will be my 7th year covering the shows and it’s always a sort of reunion amongst my all my blogger friends and finally seeing all the Public Relations contacts I’d been emailing with all year. It took me a long while to get the hang of pitching to brands for fashion week but after a few years I finally got the formula down.[/one_half][one_half_last padding=”0 0 0 15px”]A lot of people ask me how I get into fashion week and how I get invited to fashion shows. Other than this blog, I had no fashion connections but I always knew that I wanted to be in the room. Thank goodness I was too because those contacts that I made during New York Fashion Week allowed me to be able to make money from blogging when it was just a side hustle. If you want to know what goes on behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week be sure to check out my Vlogs from the last fashion week. Don’t worry, I plan on vlogging every day this fashion week as well so make sure you’re subscribed to my Youtube Channel. And if you’re looking to attend New York Fashion Week head over to my ETSY shop and check out The Perfect Pitch Templates to Brands, Hotels & to Cover Fashion Week or the Single Pitch Template Letter to Cover Fashion Weeks.
