What’s In My Travel Beauty Bag

It’s almost time for me to hop a jet plane to my favorite tropical destination, MEXICO! This is my 3rd trip and it gets better every time. There is just something about Riviera Maya that feels like home to me. I can actually relax and the sun, my GOD the SUN, kisses my skin like no place else. Yes, I am too amped but I’m even more excited to show you what’s in my travel beauty bag. The Sephora VIP Sale just wrapped (you would have known about it if you were subscribed to my newsletter) and I’m not normally a beauty and skincare girl, but now I am. I love skincare. I like seeing just how perfect I can get my skin. That may be kinda narcissistic to say, but it’s kinda like seeing how many tangerines I can eat in a day (I’ve downed a whole bag of 12 before). So you get what I’m saying; I like to see results. Most of the time, I don’t have time for extensive skincare routines and regimes. I stick to a few basics and call it a day. Have you checked out my Day Skincare Routine & My Nighttime Skincare Routine Videos on YouTube? If not head on over to my Beauty Video Section. The older I get the more I realize the importance of healthy skin. I stocked up on the latest products everyones been raving about and even had the chance to try them all out before my vacation. Yes, before my vacation! Most of the time indulgences like these are reserved for when we have the time but I’ve been self-caring and beautifying all week and I’ve come with the 411 on what really works and what’s in my travel beauty bag.

Let’s start with facial products because I’m floating high from all my Sephora Skincare Goodies. I took the leap and bought the Farmacy Honey Potion. I’d first heard about it from black skincare guru Diarrha N’Diaye who I interviewed for Fashion Steele Magazine. Check out her Video Interview Here. I also got a live demo of the product on my hand in the store and that solidified the fact that I was buying it, no matter the cost. I ran home and tried it on my face that night and I absolutely loved how supple my skin felt afterward. The best way to use it is to slather a generous amount on your face with the provided spatula and rub it in with your fingers until it turns into a white cream. It will then start to warm up. Leave in on while you hop in the shower and get clean. Then wash it off right before exiting the shower. In addition to the Honey Potion I stocked up on my favorite serum from bareMinerals. This Ageless Genius serum is formulated with Gold, Peptides, Vitamin A and Beech Bud Extract. I love using it after cleansing and exfoliating my skin to return moisture. It’s a great overnight serum or under makeup serum as well. When I ran out and didn’t use it for 2 weeks I noticed a HUGE difference in my skin (and not a good one) so I had to buy more. Another favorite from the sale was this Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque. I actually heard about this from a gorgeous waitress with amazing skin at Harlem Tavern a few nights ago. Btw they have the best fish tacos and mac-n-cheese of all time but I digress. She told me that was her main staple and that she put it in the freezer before applying a generous amount to her face before bed and washing it off in the morning. So that’s just what I did Monday night, and my GOODNESS. My skin has never felt so soft, moisturized and even toned. I saw a HUGE difference in my skin and I am now a believer. This product is getting added to my can’t live without skincare routine. I barely needed foundation the last two days thanks to this stuff.

Le Labo Vanille 44 | Curie Socaire USE CODE: MONROE15 for 15% Off | CB2 Marble Tray

I love a great artisan perfume and I like taking a light day scent and a mysterious night scent with me whenever I travel. It’s a plus that once I make memories while traveling that scent can take me right back to vacation mode. Don’t forget to indulge your senses when traveling especially smell which can trigger strong memories. Even better, while traveling pick up a local perfume. These two fit the bill for my upcoming trip to Mexico. The Le Labo Vanille 44 is soft yet lasts all day. It’s a more masculine vanilla scent which I love. It’s available for purchase mainly in Paris (it’s Paris’ signature scent), but it’s sold in the states and in NYC during fashion month (September). The price tag is hefty but it’s worth is and once you have the bottle the refills are cheaper. Next up is Curie Socaire which is my night scent for this trip. It’s a desert wood with amber and musk and it smells amazing. The price is right too. Use Code: MONROE15 for 15% Off your purchase.

Tree Hut 24 Hour Intense Hydrating Shea Body Butter is utterly amazing. It keeps my skin baby soft, banishes ash and moisturizes with ease. I also love the nutty smell. Let me tell you men love this stuff for some reason, especially when I wear the Amazon Pequi scent. Is it weird that I take my own Dove Beauty Bar on every trip? Sorry, but I have super sensitive skin and never wanna chance a rash or allergic reaction while on a vacation. I also love love love the Dove Invisible Dry Spray. It’s super light and airy and I don’t have to worry about deodorant marks on all my prized travel clothing. Lastly, there is the La Labo Hand Pomade, which smells so freaking good, I couldn’t pass it up. I also wash my hands several times a day and this helps keep my situation moisturized.

Currently my hair is back in my signature havana twists for my upcoming vacation. I get a lot of questions about my favorite protective style and you can check out THIS VIDEO to see how I get it done and the products & hair the I use. I am loving this Eden Body Works Liquid Vitamin Hair Tonic. It smells divine and I feel like it nourishes my hair and scalp while rocking my havana twists.
