Sometimes life calls for simplicity

I’m so happy that it’s March that I barely know what to do with myself. Mainly because doing the All Black Everything (designers & black owned businesses) Project, was super consuming. Although I am so happy with the results, the next time I do it I will definitely bring on more talent and assistance. But that’s me. I am a Taurus and I’m stubborn and I like things my way. If you’ve been watching my Instastories, and I hope you have, you know how difficult these last few weeks have been for me. I don’t know if it was that full moon, or something was in retrograde but I was not feeling myself the past two weeks. My jaw was super tense and I was generally annoyed. I couldn’t for the life of me, break out of that funk. But I know that God or the Universe or a higher power was definitely trying to get to me through people. My Purewow family sent me a book; Zadie Smith Feel Free Essays last Wednesday and I definitely went into my office and shed some thug tears. I’d had such a taxing day and receiving that book and reading that title was the thing that broke me out of two weeks of anxiety.

I went home, I drank a glass of Pinor Noir and I listened to my favorite YouTube Meditation for Aligning the Heart Chakra while redesigning this website with a new theme. I listen to this YouTube Motivational Video a few times a week, but when I listened to it most recently, I found so many new gems and I actually took the words to heart. I also wrote down a plan for the remaining months of the year. As soon as I did these things, I felt rejuvenated and actually excited for what’s to come instead of being bogged down with fear. This past weekend has been one of my most productive all year and I’m happy I went through that darkness because it shed so much light. I am now basking in light and I’m just trying to hold on to the lightness for as long as I can so whenever this tension and anxiety looms over me I can close my eyes and visualize the state I’m in right now.

I’ve also started dressing slightly different. After wearing bright colors and lavish over-the-top designs for the entire month of February for the Black History Month Project, I am now draw to very simplistic designs with a twist. I like muted colors and am experimenting more with minimalism. This top and jacket are both pieces from Natalie of The Tiny Closet Shop. I’ve been following her for so long and have loved seeing her evolution and her bravery in following her dreams and starting her own line. Her pieces are simple, comfortable and beautiful and that’s something I need more of in clothing and in life. I hope you all love the new theme as much as I do!

Loving this new theme ! And I have been there in that funk!! Just like you I have felt better once I break things down and plan it out. I know I’ve been feeling anxious when little things break me down and I shed some tears. Those moments are needed too!

Your outfit is so gorg btw, the colors are very tasteful and suit you well!

Hoping you have a bomb week!
