Lower East Side Living at The Ludlow Hotel

So I bit the bullet and scanned Mr. and Mrs. Smith, the site I used to fine the amazing Hotel La Semilla last year in Mexico, for a staycation in New York City. I was super stoked that 3 out of the 4 hotels I recommended in my Where to Staycation in New York City post was on Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I definitely wanted to stay at The Ludlow Hotel with their masculine yet refined decor and impressive in house restaurant Dirty French. I always recommend shopping around for the best prices and this was 3 dollars less than the actual website and it came with a bottle of red wine. SCORE. I love red wine. So I hoped on the A train, made a quick transfer to the F train and in 30 minutes I was rolling my carry-on to Ludlow St. I was so excited and anxious to check in, it felt like Christmas. Entering the hotel the lights dimmed to a sexy glow and I was engulfed in brown leathers, heavy woods, deep suedes and overall refined masculinity. While I check in and waited for my room to be ready, I sat in the guest lounge configured with lush leather, suede and pony hair chairs and couches. There was also a lovely ember color from the fire in the large fair place flanked by 2 cobra statues. It’s so hard to find a working fire place in the city and this one was gorgeous.

After the lovely front desk personnel, Courtney, who has amazing hair and perfect taste in accessories checked us in we were off to our Studio Queen room with a Terrace. Room 702 couldn’t have been more perfect. The white tiled and white marble bathroom with gold accents was perfection especially with the rainwater shower. I was only there for a mere 24 hours but some how I managed to take 3 hot showers! The water pressure was amazing and so was the Devotion Moroccan Rose shower gel and body lotion. The bed was a lovely white cloud of comfort and the two lavender colored chairs complete with faux sheep skin throws complimented the space amazingly. But the real treat was the extra large windows and door that led out to the terrace. Room 702 is positioned perfectly above Ludlow St. with the famous Katz Deli below and a view up to the Empire State Building. I spent as much time as possible on the terrace taking in the views and the warmth and the serenity of a lovely and balanced outdoor space, where I can walk barefoot and breath fresh air. You all know I don’t have cable TV, so getting the chance to indulge in all E. television has to offer was refreshing. There are so many new guilty pleasure shows I’ve never seen!

[aesop_content color=”#FFFFFF” background=”auto” columns=”2″ position=”none” imgrepeat=”no-repeat” floaterposition=”left” floaterdirection=”up”]Of course I didn’t spend all of my staycation taking showers and binge watching WAGs, I also got to finally try out a famed bagel spot, Russ and Daughters, a mere block away. I was very intimated entering the shop because it was jammed packed with people. But when I finally squeezed myself inside, I saw all different kinds of fish, some I’ve never seen before and columns and columns of bagels on the left. On the right was every possible kind of snack in a jar imaginable. There was dried fruits of every sort, nuts and chocolate covered everythings. The jar of dates is what caught my eye and I ordered half a pound before realizing I needed to get a number. Luckily the couple who came in behind me gave me their ticket and got another one. So as I waited for my number to be called I scanned the ingredients in complete and utter awe. There was so much and much of it I didn’t know, so I went with the usual Lox on a Poppy Seed bagel with scallion cream cheese, tomato and onions.

After I got my bagel, I was off to another wonderful place within walking distance to The Ludlow Hotel. I quite literally found out about Prohibition Bakery from a friend the day before my staycation. He’d gotten my friend and I a batch on our way home from the lovely Lemonade Brunch I attended Saturday. They were so good I had to go back for seconds during my staycation. Prohibition Bakery is a true gem in the Lower East Side. These cupcakes are magical and alcohol filled and delicious. Like, you need to sit down to eat them because they make your knees weak. I’m pretty sure I experienced an intense tingling sensation from my throat down to my feet after consuming the mini delightfulness that is the Basic Bitch. Don’t worry, the Basic Bitch is a mini cupcake made of white rose wine, goat cheese cream, peach, blueberry and lemon. It is divine and I implore you to try one the next time you’re in the lower east side, followed by The Dark and Stormy cupcake.

The Lower East Side, not only has amazing little boutiques doting the vibrant streets but it also has some of my favorite restaurants, Stanton Social being one of them. My friend Alicia and I decided to have cocktails at the dark and sexy hotel restaurant bar Dirty French followed by a delicious dinner at Stanton Social. After dinner Alicia and I made our way up to the rooftop of The Ludlow Hotel with red wine in hand to check out the stunning 360 views of the best city on earth. Waking up to the amazing view of the city was definitely the best part of my staycation at The Ludlow Hotel. The service at the hotel and the attention to details doesn’t go unnoticed. Even down to the smell of the covered outdoor cafe, everything was above and beyond. I had an amazing time and The Ludlow Hotel and look forward to my next staycation!

“Entering the hotel the lights dimmed to a sexy glow..” Pulled me in and made me want a whole novel after that line. Love your style of writing while on even the nearest getaway. Great looks too… That white #Poppin
