MFW: Stella Jean S/S 2015

While attending Milan Fashion Week and scanning my instagram, I came across a designer I’d never known about but who’s designs I screenshot and bookmarked into my “OBSESSED” photo folder, Stella Jean. I didn’t attend this show, but once I got back to my Milan abode I checked her out. Stella Jean is a 35 year old Haitian/Italian designer and she is breathtaking. She could walk the runway if she wanted to and actually did in her early teens! Her design philosophy for her collections is “Wax and Stripes”, African wax fabrics to symbolize her Haitian mothers’ heritage and stripes for her fathers Italian roots.

I love that she stays true to her design philosophy by sourcing Haiti and Africa for fabrics and accessories. Her designs are loud and playful, yet sophisticated and worldly. The styling was impeccable and on every single model there was something I coveted, from a trumpet hemmed skirt, to a striped bag, to amazing colorful sandals! Stella Jean, is a star and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
