GET THE LOOK

Overalls are back and they are better than ever. I got this set at Urban Outfitters but you could just as well find them at any Goodwill, Salvation Army or thrift store. To update them, cut them off and throw them in the wash for a fringe hem look or distress them by adding a few slashes here and there. Urban Outfitters does a great job at making whats old new. They even take old levi’s and mom jeans and distress them for you, but it’ll cost you. I’m lazy when it comes to DIYs. I’d much rather just buy it than risk creating it myself and it coming out crappy.

I am very good at building things. I consider myself handy after installing both window air conditioners myself without killing innocent bystanders below on 8th Avenue. I built my bed courtesy of Walmart and all 5 bookshelves in my apartment as well as my foyer table. I even have a drill! But when it comes to sewing and buttons and that sort of thing…I am clueless. I will staple a hem before I attempt to sew it. I just didn’t get that gene. I did well in high school home economics when it came to cooking, but good lord I couldn’t sew to save my life. I now have a very skillful tailor less than 3 blocks from my apartment and he knows me on a first name basis. He also gives me The Look when he has to remove staples from my clothing.

I find that whats old will always come around back in style but some things I know I will never embrace. For instance: bell bottoms, glitter lipstick (or anything glitter for that matter), Birkenstocks, and track suits. I mean I know what works for me and none of the above do, but I don’t knock anyone else’s fashion choices with the exception of leggings that are so sheer I can see your canary yellow granny panties and white stockings. Both of which I would eradicate from existing if possible for the sake of all women everywhere. But I digress.
