Monroe’s Guide to Miami

This is my 3rd Guide to Miami and you can check out my other Travel Guides here (not just to Miami but to all the places I’ve ever been). I traveled to Miami for the holiday season to ring in the New Year but mainly to look for a place to move. If you are new here, I’m looking for an investment property in Miami. If it wasn’t for the pandemic I’d probably already have a place in Miami but there was a long stretch of time where realtors weren’t doing in-person showings in 2020. That’s a whole other blog post y’all but thank you all so much for following along on my Instagram and Instagram stories. You all really enjoyed that content and it makes me very happy. Stay tuned because the first Miami vlog will go live this Sunday on my YouTube Channel and until then you can watch last years Miami vlogs here. But here’s the tea and everything you need to know about my recent trip to Miami including: What I Wore, Where to Stay, Where to Eat & Shop and Miami Covid Information.

WHERE TO STAY

I normally stay in Downtown Miami in a Domio (think an upscale airbnb with amenities like a pool but they didn’t make it through Covid and sadly went out of business) so this trip I decided to stay at a proper hotel. I wanted the amenities of room service and a pool and convenient shopping so I went with East Miami Hotel. I absolutely loved my stay there. So much so that I extended my trip! The hotel is gorgeous and it’s connected to Brickell City Centre Outdoor/Indoor Shopping Mall which has a Chanel Beauty Boutique, Sephora, Saks and a Zara. East Miami has a stunning pool and 3 restaurants, one of which is on the roof with a stunning view of the city and the bay. If you stay there go for the Bay or Corner Rooms which are huge and have a wrap around terrace where you can get amazing views of the sunrise and see all of the lights of Brickell at night. I love the atmosphere at East and I barely needed to leave the hotel to get amazing content when it came to photos.

WHERE TO EAT

Steak & Eggs at B Bistro & Bakery

Sugar: I love the rooftop restaurant at East Miami Hotel. It’s a complete vibe and has the best views of the bay and Downtown Miami at night. They have the best cocktails and I love their sushi rolls and rock shrimp.

B Bistro & Bakery: A great place for brunch but go early because they don’t take reservations! Luckily its a 3 minute walk from East Miami Hotel. I love their steak and eggs, any of their freshly baked pastries and their delicious passionfruit Bellinis.

Sagrado Cafe: This is my favorite cafe in Miami. It’s in Downtown Miami and across the street from Maurice A. Ferre park which is stunning. Get the antioxidant açaí smoothie! Everything on the menu is delicious.

Yardbird Southern Table & Bar: I had the best meal of my life here during this recent trip. Shrimp and Grits, Deviled Eggs a Southern Peach Cocktail and chocolate cake with bacon on top and bourbon ice cream on the side. Thank me later.

Red Rooster Miami: In Overtown Miami Red Rooster just opened. I had the pleasure of dining there and it was everything. Stunning outdoor space, live DJ playing all 90s jams and the best oxtail I’ve ever had in my life! GO THERE!

WHERE TO SHOP

Miami Design District
Bal Harbour Shops

Miami Design District

I always make it a point to visit the Miami Design District for shopping at some of my favorite luxury stores like Louis Vuitton, Margiela and Dior. They also have a store I learned about on instagram named Simonett. I went and bought a ton of these multi tie knit tops in multiple colors. The Design District has tons of cool art work and installations. Currently they have a Louis Vuitton installation and it’s nice to just walk around and take in the sights. They even have a 360 Sample Sale Store! I managed to check out the Oscar De La Renta sample sale that was happening there.

Bal Harbour

Bal Harbour is the place to shop for real and be seen. The valet in front of the massive shopping center a few miles away from south beach is a who’s who of who’s who. It’s basically the equivalent of a red carpet. I love shopping there because it’s less crowded than the Design District and with covid the lines are a lot shorter. In fact I don’t recall even standing in a line to get in. I actually bought a pair of Gucci slides during my most recent trip. They also have a Chanel, Neiman Marcus, Bottega Veneta and one of my favorite restaurants Hillstone. It’s worth the extra $5 Uber ride and its right across the street from a super serene area on the beach.

Jacquemus Pants | Balmain Bag | Old BCBG Sandals | Old Zara Knit Top | Scultndazzle Statement Earrings (Black Owned) | Color Pop Limbo Lipstain | Electric Picks Double Necklace | Mejuri Long Pendant Necklace | Raen Sunglasses

Stay tuned for the vlogs of my Miami trip. Until then you can check out my previous travel videos on YouTube and check out all my travel guides from places I’ve been. Hopefully we will be able to travel freely soon and I already have a list of places I can’t wait to visit. Make sure to bookmark and share this post if you plan on visiting Miami soon.

*MIAMI COVID INFORMATION*

All indoor spaces require a mask as well as public outdoor spaces like the Design District. Indoor seating at restaurants is still active as of January 29th, 2021. Masks must be worn at indoor restaurants until you are seated at your table. Miami Beach has a free covid testing center at the Miami Beach Convention Center in 17th Street Parking lot. They offer both diagnostic and antibody tests. Results for diagnostic usually are given within mere hours of the test and the antibody results within 24 hours. Please make sure to check out this information for yourself as it may change from the time this post goes live.

Again thanks for all the love on my Miami Instastories and Instagram Posts! I appreciate the support so much.
