This Spring and Summer I collected slip dresses the way a coin collector collects coins. Let’s just say I didn’t meet one slip dress that I didn’t like. The slip dress trend has been going strong for the last 3 years and I don’t see it going away anytime soon. I love the texture of a good slip dress, most are satin or silk and I love the sheen they give especially against other textures like wool, cashmere and thick knits. They are most definitely one of the only pieces in your wardrobe that can be worn seamlessly throughout all seasons with a little creative layering.

I recently picked up this gorgeous slip dress from Zara in the most amazing color and couldn’t wait to style it for cold weather. I know in the winter everyone leans towards grays and blacks and big bulky clothing but it doesn’t have to be that way. Winter is actually my favorite time to wear more color. Even though silk and satin may be thin material, they are both heat insulators and perfect for cold weather. Break out your heavy trench coats, turtlenecks, sweaters and even sweater dresses for some unique layering techniques and don’t forget that knee high boots count as a layer. These heat tech tops and turtlenecks from Uniqlo along with the bodysuits from the Uniqlo x Alexander Wang Collaboration, have been my saving grace during these last two cold weeks (and 1 huge snow storm) here in New York City. The heat technology really works! The day it snowed I had on my cream heat tech turtleneck and it held up great. I’ve been wearing them nonstop with just about everything so get used to me rocking them LOL.
What are some ways that you rock your Spring/Summer pieces into Fall & Winter? I’d love to know!
