H&M X Jeff Koons 5th Ave Flagship Opening

Tuesday evening H&M hosted their Grand Flagship Store Opening on 5th Avenue with a collaboration with famed artist Jeff Koons. It was a dreary day with moderate rain, as I stood in my 4 inch L.A.M.B. heels with my tiny umbrella waiting in line with about 2 dozen other fashion folk. In line i met and shared my umbrella with Eric, an intern at The Whitney museum that is currently housing the Jeff Koons exhibit. We chatted about not wanting to get our camera’s wet, and complained about waiting in the rain. We spoke about the Jeff Koons bag that’s all everyone can chat about and his desire to start his own blog.

Once the magical gates opening we were whisked through to The Gatekeepers. You know them, dressing impeccably, mostly in black with shiny hair and an iPad. I gave my name, last, then first and lo and behold I wasn’t on the list. My heart shattered into a million pieces until I was saved by another PR person who ushered me through the marble gates into the pristine new H&M. It was perfect, the DJ mixed while very handsome servers carried arrays of food, from mini mac and cheese puffs to delicate and delicious meats. There were also excellent mojitos and wines.

The crowd was impeccable, fashionable and ready to shop. I saw one of my fashion favorites, Natalie Joos whisk by in a floor sweeping red and pinks, Tinsley Mortimer posing on the red carpet, Nicki Hilton chatting with friends, and a slew of models I’d scene in numerous campaigns. I also saw one of the Coco and Breezy sisters enjoying the live performance by Birdie. Of course the was Jeff Koons posing with none other than Alek Wek in the VIP section and Olivia Wilde chatting up a group of ladies and taking selfies with them.

The new H&M Flagship is said to be designed with the Palace of Versailles in mind. I totally get that just walking the clean marbled floors of the venue. It is crisp and visually stimulating but not overly so. I loved the lighted fixtures on each of the 5 floors. The dressing rooms are pure luxury as well with heavy roped draped curtain closures and super huge mirrors.  The night was super fun, mingling and meeting fellow bloggers and fashion enthusiast and shopping the night away with at 25% off everything discount.

I walked away with a skirt, 3 tops and, a bathing suit and a Jeff Koons x H&M bag for $162. Overall i think I showed exceptional restraint. But you don’t have to! If you are in New York, check out the grand opening to the public today July 17th at noon at 589 5th Avenue (oh and the first 1000 shoppers in line get an H&M t-shirt and a fashion pass valued at $10-$1000!)
