Beauty Secret: Aloe Vera Juice

I’ve been getting my hair twisted most of this year since February. It’s definitely helped with my transition to natural hair. I haven’t had my hair permed since September of 2013. At first I went with Senegalese twist but I wanted something that looked a little more natural and later switched to getting Marley twist, which uses a more natural looking hair. My stylist Amaany of Morkinks in Harlem put me on to 100% Aloe Vera Juice to use as a daily conditioner/moisterizer. It has worked wonders on my scalp.

I used to have really bad dandruff and this stuff really has decreased that. Over the last 3 months dandruff hasn’t been an issue for me. And its definitely something I’ve struggled with for YEARS! I fill a spray bottle with half Aloe Juice and half water. It is soothing and smells amazing. It makes my hair super soft and seems to quench all the thirst my hair experiences. I get this brand from Whole Foods and its the best. I buy two bottles of this stuff and it lasts me forever.

Another thing, last summer I recently discovered I have Seborrheic Dermatitis. Its a real shit show in the summer time too. Basically the skin around my hairline and nasal folds, starts to flake and peel off. I feel like a snake! Its not cute either. If you go back and really look closely at my hairline, you can see the difference in skin tone. Sometimes after i exfoliate my face, especially my nose, the skin around it is a pinkish red. I’m fortunate that I am of a darker skin tone and it isn’t so bad especially in the summer when i get a little darker but I’m sure this condition can make people super subconscious.

Well this Aloe Vera juice/water cocktail has helped even turn that around! My hairline soaks it up and flakes a lot less that it did last summer. I actually spray this stuff on my entire face and scalp and hair. It is super refreshing and my skin loves it as well. So if you are looking for a miracle water, then maybe you should give Aloe Vera Juice a try.

Do you have any beauty elixirs that seem to do the trick?

My scalp and hair loves aloe vera juice. I’ve been natural 14 years now and it has been a constant staple. I use it more in summer as a scalp and hair refresher. Does this one require refrigeration? I use George’s brand aloe vera which doesn’t.
