How I plan to #Make2020 an Amazing Year

This post is in collaboration with GoDaddy.com

2019 was the year I got to really see what I was made of. I became a full time entrepreneur. A blogger. An influencer. A YouTuber. A Publisher. It was the year I took that leap of faith and decided to see: What If. I’ve partnered with GoDaddy to let you all in on how I plan to #Make2020 an even better year than 2019 with time management.

TIME FOR REST

I’m so type A, that when I get an idea, I have to act on it and see it all the way through. It’s the kind of thing that keeps me working well after midnight or clear through every meal of the day. I think it’s a wonderful trait to have to be a go-getter, a hustler and a hard worker. I’ve shown myself in this last year what is possible with hard work, consistency and dedication. I also need to learn the value of rest. I didn’t allow myself to rest as much as I should have in 2019. I’m currently writing this post, while at home in North Carolina on Christmas break. Even though I’ve been on a few trips this year, this is the first one where for days I didn’t work. It’s definitely something that I needed and didn’t know how badly I needed it. It’s helped me to refresh and get re-inspired. Rest is imperative to survival.  In 2020, I plan on taking a real rest whenever I feel the need. There’s this anxiety that comes with being an entrepreneur. If you don’t work, you don’t survive. I have to break free of that mentality and allow myself to take days off without feeling like I’m going to miss something if I do.

FOCUSED SCREEN TIME

I spent a great deal of time on my computer and on my phone. It’s my job to be on the internet to create and post content. I do however find myself spending a lot of my screen time aimlessly scrolling. There’s this misconception that screen time needs to be limited. I believe that as well when it comes to being on just to be on. But this upcoming year, I’m going to dedicate myself to trying to make my screen time really count. I’m working towards getting my website in better shape. GoDaddy will make that easy to do. I want my time on social media to count. I want to be inspired. I’m tailored all my accounts to content that does that for me. I’ll be following more accounts that teach me, fuel me and inspire me.

TIME FOR LOVE

Yes, that kind of love too but more so time to do the things that I love. Entrepreneurship is extremely time consuming especially when you’re passionate about it. My favorite thing to do became my full-time gig but I do miss doing some things that I love. I’ve already started dedicating more time to making sure those things aren’t kept simmering on the back burner. For instance, I absolutely love reading. I used to read a new book every month. I like escaping into books where I can learn about new places and be inspired to try new things. This year my reading definitely slowed down. It’s been months since I read a good novel. I think people are happier and healthier when they do something they love even if it’s just for 5 minutes a day. Thus, I’ve carved out time in my schedule every single day to read. It feels good to be back into it and I’ve been looking at everyones Must Reads for 2019 and collecting books to read in the New Year. I love the feel of actually books. I like to turn the pages and smell them too (I’m kind of a weirdo that way) so I often don’t read online. But that is one of the ways I can make my screen time count as well! Two birds with one stone right! Oh and in regards to love… I’m definitely going to start dating more. Even though I could make that part of my focused online screen time, I don’t know if I can go back to dating apps. LOL. We shall see.

I’d like to thank you all so much for supporting me during this first full year of entrepreneurship. It’s been such a fun, wild ride and a learning experience for me. I appreciate you all for reading my blog posts, commenting on my social media posts and watching my YouTube Videos. I get asked a lot about starting a website and hosting and developing my brand. GoDaddy has been there for me since this website was born. Over the last 7 years, I’ve broken my website, needed updates, server switches, website backups and more and GoDaddy was always there to help me through every phase of turning my brand into what it is today. If 2020 is the year you start a business or blog and need website hosting or assistance, I’d definitely recommend GoDaddy.

How are you going to #Make2020 better for yourself? How will you be managing your time to get the most out of life? Let me know in the comments below!

Thanks so much for the GoDaddy suggestion, I will check that out today! I wanted to publish my blog by the end of this year , but if I don’t, I will publish at the beginning of 2020. I have been planning it for a couple of months now since I purchased your template. I am still trying to figure out WordPress and Canva. Actually it’s a deferred dream of more than ten years, so in the new year I will have 2020 vision and courage.

Since you like to read ( I saw your copy of Zadie Smith’s, “Swing Time.”) I hope that you will subscribe to my blog-books and stick (lipstick). I have taken a lot of your advice, because I have enjoyed your social media posts and your blog. They are inspirational. I pray that you have continued success in the New Year! Peace, Love Blessings!

Thank you so much Carol. Thats AWESOME! Just start! I know it can feel overwhelming and if you’re anything like me you want things to be perfect before you start. But the lesson is in learning and growing.

I now what you mean! I would love to finish Michelle Obama’s book, I’ve opened it about three time this year and I’m still on the first chapter LOL I would love to travel this year so getting my passport is a must. My son gave me a gift card for $100 dollars, so I’m going to pull the trigger and get one (Paris, here I come). Your content has made me believe that I can dream again, and nothing is impossible (as I hold back my tears)! Thank you for being you and stepping out on Faith! Your hard work has inspired me and I want and do more for myself.
Turning 50 this month makes me want every minute to count, so time management is a must moving forward! I will be standing by to pick up any gems that you hand out to make my life easier! I’ve been all over the place following people and I decided to choose just one a roll with it, so I’m here to stay! It can be very over whelming to keep up, so this is one way to downsize my social media time and make it count! Your channel has everything one can want and need to stay beautiful and chic!
Wishing you the best and I’m cheering for you!

Monroe, I am 68, retired, healthy, and love fashion! Last year I fell in love with you….your Utube, blog, fashion sense, etc. I am really obsessed! I copy….. get inspiration….all the time and it has helped me to see the beauty and style sense I have left to explore. Watching you reminds me not to fall into the old, black, traditional, church lady attire. Not much money but have thrifted some great pieces and I never pass a good off season sale item. Thank you! Obsessed with you. Congratulations and keep up the good work in 2020.

I need to apply the focused screen time limit. I have it set for two hours per day, which is still a lot. (lol) But great tips to start your 2020.

In 2020, I’m stepping out on faith with starting my own journey as an entrepreneur, moving to a different city, changing industry, etc…. I’ve got extensive plans but I’m also facing my fear of failure but attempting to try which had definitely stopped by growth over the years.

Sometimes failure is a better learning curve than success and I’m excited to see where life, and a bit of bravery, takes me.
