#NYFW: Chillhouse, a Blogger Sleepover + Fashion Shows

I’m only two days into New York Fashion Week (well today makes three) and I’m already a little exhausted. Lord give me strength and the blood of all the Spartans so I can make it through this week! Thank goodness, I recently partnered with a meal box brand and have quick nutritious meals I can devour between shows. I’m already racking up quite the Uber bill thanks fashion week too. Praise be for brands that provide Uber codes and for the express A train that drops me off a mere 1 minute from Spring Studios and 5 minutes from Industria Studios where most of the fashion shows are taking place. The first two days of New York Fashion Week I was fortunate enough to have my blogger boo Jenee of HighLowLuxxe in tow and we had a ball hustling our way into shows and laughing at every little thing. We’ve only meet once but now we’re on the fast track to being BFFs (yes, girl, I have you marked! if only we had the same shoe size!).

DAY 1: Shopping, Chillhouse, KES NYC Fashion Show, Greta Constantine Show

Day one was a pretty quiet day. We began with a little shopping in the LES at The Frankie Shop (you must visit) and Theory of Gaia which a recently saw on Instagram. These two places are always popping up on my feed with some of my favorite influencers wearing their gear so it was only natural to do a little window shopping. There’s something about fashion week, that sparks so much creativity and that usually results in me buying way to much stuff. GOOD STUFF, of course but too much. Fortunately, Jenee did enough shopping for me to live vicariously through her and not spend a dime. After some shopping we headed to an event at Chillhouse. This was actually my first time visiting Chillhouse and I loved the experience. I was there for an event with Vaseline and we got to try out their new products as well as get a manicure and a 10 minute massage. SCORE!

We then headed to the KES NYC fashion show, which was actually a dance show. It was so beautiful. KES NYC is known for their beautiful yet sultry silk pieces. I have one of their silk dresses and always get asked about it when I wear it on Instastories. This show nearly moved me to tears it was so exquisitely whimsical. Next up, we headed to Soho for the Greta Constantine presentation which was out of this world. It was very avant garde and I thoroughly enjoyed the ambience of cool 20 somethings in bright ensembles and the general bubbly atmosphere. I also enjoyed several crackers with delicious cheese at the bar too. After getting our fill, we made our way home for a blogger sleep over with Jenee @highlowluxxe, Danielle @stylenbeautydoc and myself. Nothing like greasy burgers, season 3 of Sex and the City and face masks to end the evening.

DAY 2: Indonesian Diversity Fashion Show, Noon By Noor, Bubby’s, Nicole Miller

As I type this it’s 8:58pm on Thursday evening and my feet are BURNING! I have a 9am show tomorrow that I will be skipping in favor of relaxing my poor barking feet and probably finishing up this post as well. The day kicked off at 10am with the Indonesian Diversity Fashion Show and I absolutely loved everything about it. The head pieces, the dramatic shapes and overall grandness of it left me in awe. Now all I can think about is visiting Indonesia asap! After that we rushed over to Spring Studios where most of the New York Fashion Week Shows are taking place to catch Noon By Noor. I actually didn’t have a ticket but Jenee did and thanks to the NYFW Gawds and Black History Month Gawds smiling down on my person, I got the green light to get in!

My luck later ran out for Tadashi Shoji (boo) but the best part of the day was lunch at Bubby’s around the corner from Spring Studios. For one, the waiter was hot and for two the fried chicken biscuit was LIFE! I may go back again tomorrow and the day after LOL. After coming home and resting for a bit I headed back to Spring Studios for Nicole Miller, my final show of the day. Their PR was kind enough to send me a dress to wear for the show. The show was something different than I’d seen Nicole Miller do before. The collection had elements of punk, school girl uniform, patchwork and sparkling glamour. There’s definitely something to wear for everyone in this collection.

Remember you can also stay up to date with my New York Fashion Week over on my Instastories! Well… tomorrow is a new day and I need to get my beauty rest. Let me tell y’all, the Farmacy Honey Potion Face Mask and Elemis Peptide 4 Nighttime Recovery Oil have been my skin saviors the last two days. I usually get a massive stress pimple during NYFW but so far so good!
